Fire on cargo ship in Hamburg port renders it inoperable
On Wednesday evening, a fire broke out in the wheelhouse of a cargo ship in Hamburg port. The crew unsuccessfully attempted to extinguish the fire themselves before the fire brigade brought the blaze under control. The wheelhouse was completely destroyed, and the ship is inoperable until further notice.

Major fire with roof collapse at Bedford in Osnabrück — million-euro damage in meat processing plant
On the afternoon of 12 August 2026, a machine caught fire in a hall of the meat product manufacturer Bedford in Osnabrück. The fire spread, the hall roof collapsed, firefighting efforts lasted until the following morning. Around 90 employees and about 60 employees of a neighbouring company had to evacuate the buildings; residents were asked to close windows and doors due to the smoke plume. Elevated ammonia levels were temporarily measured, the warning was later lifted.

A major fire destroyed on 11 June 2026 a roughly 90,000 m² medical products warehouse of Medline Industries in Tracy and triggered evacuations in the surrounding area, including at FedEx and Amazon sites. All approximately 120 employees were able to get to safety. A failed sprinkler system and problems with the hydrants complicated firefighting efforts; lithium-ion batteries from warehouse robots released additional hazardous substances.
